A three-story house in Chicago keeps its windows working hard through every season, and by the time we arrived at this one, the glass showed it. Bug residue and spider webbing had built up along the frames and in the corners — the kind of accumulation that comes from mature plantings pressed close to the building. Shrubs and trees ran right up to several of the windows, which meant the exterior surfaces were shaded, damp, and well-trafficked by insects. Twenty windows across three floors, all exterior only.
We cleared the webbing and debris from each frame before touching the glass, working carefully around the landscaping to get proper angles without snapping branches or losing footing. Several of the windows ran large — oversized panes that take more passes and more deliberate squeegee pressure to pull clean without streaking. Tracks and frames got a thorough wipe-down at each stop, so the finished work looked consistent across the whole face of the house, not just where the glass itself was obvious. We moved floor by floor, top down, and left the exterior in solid shape by the time we packed the van.
