Gutter Cleaning at a 2-story house in Grayslake on Christy Circle. 5813 sq ft. Completed by our Round Lake team.
Gutter guards had done little to protect this two-story Grayslake home by the time we pulled up at 10:30 in the morning. The house sits on a substantial footprint — just under 5,800 square feet — and the entire first-floor run was lined with guards that had, over time, become part of the problem rather than the solution. Organic debris had worked its way through and packed in behind them, leaving the system effectively sealed off. Whatever the season had dropped on this roof had nowhere to go.
We pulled the guards section by section along the first floor and cleared the compacted material out of each channel before moving through the downspouts. The elbows were the main bottleneck — debris had collected at the bends and stopped flow entirely, so we worked each one until it ran clean. With the guards off, the cleaning could be done properly rather than around them. The full job took two hours from start to finish, guards reinstalled and flow confirmed before we left. Invoice went out the same day.

Common questions from Grayslake homeowners researching Gutter Cleaning.
For a 2-story house in Grayslake, expect to pay roughly $150–$300 depending on linear footage, story count, and how clogged the gutters are. This particular job on a 5,813 sq ft home came in at $250, which included clearing gutter guards and flushing clogged elbows and downspouts.
A thorough cleaning on a home this size typically runs 2–3 hours for a trained crew. When clogged downspout elbows are involved, as they were here, technicians need extra time to disassemble, clear the blockage, and reassemble before flushing the system to confirm flow.
The work covers removing debris from all gutters, clearing any gutter guards so water can pass through freely, and flushing downspouts to confirm they drain properly. On this job that also meant breaking loose clogged elbows mid-downspout — a common issue on larger homes where debris compacts at directional bends.
Most 2-story homes need cleaning twice a year — once in late spring after seed and pollen season and again in late fall after leaves drop. Homes with gutter guards still need periodic attention because fine debris and shingle grit work through the mesh and pack into elbows and downspout outlets over time.
